Beginning data

This year the school-wide goal is lifting target student achievement by 1.5 years. This means that students achieving below the National Standard will move at an accelerated rate.

My inquiry focus is to design a class site that the students can confidently navigate in order to support guided and independent learning. Cognitive engagement during independent classwork is crucial as much of the teaching is delivered in micro groups at Point England School. 

In term 1, the class average in reading stands at level 7. Thus the average student is achieving 6 months below the National Standard. A large number of learners in my class are therefore target students.

My inquiry requires knowledge of my learners and their learning needs in order to design a class site that supports my desired shift in student achievement.
